Umm, I know they’re mostly meant for Internet browsing, but can they run some programs too? I just want to download one thing from the Internet in particular, which is about 278KB.

I am shopping around for a netbook and I am simply amazed at the prices that Asus and Acer netbooks are offering. But, I just never heard of these companies until recently. I am also currently interested in the Samsung NC10. Have any one of you ever had one of these netbooks on a long-term basis? If so, how reliable were these netbooks? Thanks a lot!
